Food logging and barcode scanning

How clients log food: built-in USDA and Open Food Facts search, barcode scanning, saved foods, and water tracking.

Clients log food inside the portal - no MyFitnessPal subscription, no second app, no screenshots of other trackers.

Food search

When a client searches for a food, Tyzra queries five sources in parallel:

  1. Your custom foods
  2. Your recipes
  3. The client's own saved foods
  4. USDA FoodData Central - the US government's food composition database
  5. Open Food Facts - the open database of packaged products

Coach-created foods surface first, so the plan's staples are always one tap away.

Barcode scanning

For packaged food, clients scan the barcode instead of typing. Tyzra checks their saved foods first, then Open Food Facts, and pulls per-serving macros when available (falling back to per-100g scaling when not).

Saved and recent foods

Logging the same breakfast daily shouldn't feel like data entry. The last 20 logged foods sit under Recents, and clients can pin up to 100 saved foods for their rotation.

Water

Water logging is one tap: quick-add buttons for 250ml, 500ml, and 1L against the daily target you set.

What you see

Everything a client logs rolls up to your dashboard and their profile: traffic-light macro adherence for today, consistency dots for the week, and trend charts over 90 days. If a client's numbers make no sense, you can open their food entries and see exactly what was logged.
